IFB in the Beginning?

Indianapolis Second-Alarm "BUFFS"
Last year, a dozen or so businessmen who are keenly interested
in fire-fighting banded together into an organization known as the
Indianapolis Second-Alarm "BUFFS". Their purpose is a sincere aim
to promote fire-fighting efficiency and fire-prevention in every way
possible. The first president who has been very active in organizing
and recruiting membership was Dr. W.B. Currie.
The president this year is Ronald Plew.
Several of the accomplishments of the "BUFFS" to date includes:
donating twelve dozen gloves to the I.F.D. and also, 50,000 fire
telephone stickers which were distributed during the last Fire-
Prevention Week. The gloves are carried in the Assistant Chief’s car for
use at large fires in cold weather. The first big goal of the organization
is to establish a fire equipment museum, here in the city. Considerable
research has already been done on this subject, but it will require quite
some time to affect this ambitious project.
We would like to thank Local #416 for permitting IFB to show this tid-bit of our history.
