Minutes for IFB meeting, Jan. 20, 2010, IFD #45

Vice President Jim Williamson called the meeting to order at 1930. Fifteen members were present; four members were excused. There was one guest: John Buckman III.

A moment of silence was observed to honor deceased members and local firefighters. The Pledge of Allegiance followed.

A motion to approve the minutes of the Nov 2009 meeting, as corrected, was made by Jerry Traub and seconded. The motion was approved.

The Treasurer’s Report:

Report was resented for Nov 2009. Moved by Jerry Traub for approval and seconded. Motion approved.

MAIL:

Letter from Dave Palin read, Christmas card from Dave Palin, Salvation Army EDS class on Jan 23rd letter read, Donation letter from Sean Barrett about photo CD’s, Letter about A-shift Lunch for Haiti, donation letter from Union for the RSU program for $500 was read, letter read about us entering apparatus in the 30th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17th. Motion by Jim Williamson to pay $50 entry fee and seconded. Letter read from Shawn Barrett to use the old workout room in the basement of reserve station 12 to set up an office. Motion by David Chambers to accept and seconded, with the provision that Shawn becomes a charter member. IFBA membership renewal letter read and a motion by Roger Birchfield to send in $50 fee, seconded and passed. Special note to John Hardin for working on the plumbing at reserve station 12.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

ARTIFACTS AND PHOTO ARCHIVES: (Committee: Rodger Birchfield, Ron Cunningham, Brett Jackson, Jack Finney)

Rodger reported digitizing of old photographs continues.

APPARATUS: (Committee: Dennis Chambers, Rodger Birchfield, CL Hankins)

Status quo.

MEMBERSHIP: (Committee: Club Secretary)

Motion by Roger Birchfield and seconded to accept John Buckman III as an Associate Member. Motion passed. Congratulations to John! Jerry reported that Matt Woods continues to convalesce at home. And said Mat is thankful for all the calls and email. Matt will welcome your phone call – his number is 317-784-7983.

RSU: (Committee: Ed McMichael, Dennis Huff, CL Hankins)

Ed and Brett submitted all the 2009 RSU run totals. The RSU’s made a total of 170 runs with totals breakdown listed below.

RSU-1: Running good, just added some more shelving to the back for better storage.

RSU-2: Jim has been working hard on getting all the lights working; he also had had great success in getting items rewired in the box. Motion by Jerry Traub and seconded to order an inverter for RSU2. The motion passed.

RSU-3: The generator is on order and the shops will be putting it in as soon as it comes in.

WEBSITE: (Committee: Dennis Chambers, Dennis Huff, CL Hankins)

Dennis C reported the website has been updated with the latest runs, minutes.

COMMUNICATIONS/PAGERS: (Committee: Dennis Chambers)

Dennis C reported all but two pagers have been turned in and the pagers are no longer working.

RESERVE STATION 12: (Committee: Mark Burke, Jim Williamson, Dave Babcock)

Jim W. reported he is working on the light that is inside the rear of the firehouse by the back door as it is no longer working. The coal chute and manhole cover has be tack welded closed by Chad Mitchell (step-son to Dennis C.). Jim W. also reported there is still a leak near the roof in the apparatus bay behind where RSU-2 is setting.

INSURANCE: (Committee: Jerry Traub, Ed McMichael, Ryan Duffin)

Jerry Traub reported that the policy is coming up for renewal.

TURNOUT: (Committee: Jerry Traub, Ed McMichael, Jim Williamson)

NEW BUSINESS:

St. Patrick’s Day Parade is on March 17th so please come out and ride.

Lawrence Twsp (Castleton) Fire Stations are now numbered with IFD numbers.

Mecca is updating to RMS so the apparatus numbers will be changing on a few so they can be placed in the system with the new four digit identifier.

Motion to adjourn 2150, seconded by many.
