Minutes for IFB Meeting, February 15, 2006, Station 19
The meeting of the Indianapolis Fire Buffs was called to order
at 1934 on February
15, 2006, by President Rodger Birchfield. Twelve members were
present; two
members were excused.
A moment of silence was observed to honor deceased members and
firefighters.
The Pledge of Allegiance followed.
A motion to approve the minutes of the January 2006 meeting was
made by Jim
Williamson. The motion was approved unanimously.
A motion to approve the Treasurer’s report for January 2006 was
made by David
Chambers. The motion was approved unanimously.
MAIL: Letter from Salvation Army thanking the Club for the
donation; information
regarding Local 416 Golf Tournament; note from Norm Girard,
letters from IFBA
regarding nominations for Fire Buff of the Year award and
request for officer roster
as of 1/1/06; thank you letter from Franklin Township Dive Team
(department patch
enclosed) – team had been guests at Station 12 during
training.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
MUSEUM: no report
APPARATUS: Jim Williamson secured a fire extinguisher for the
engine. The Club is
still planning to participate in annual St. Patrick’s Day
Parade. Final plans for parade
will be discussed at March meeting. Mike Estridge discussed
possibility of some IFD
retirees riding on our apparatus.
MEMBERSHIP: Dennis Chambers presented application from John
Allen for
Associate Membership. Allen is a retired Washington Township
volunteer firefighter
and an owner of Taylor’s Bakery. Motion to approve membership
was made by Jim
Williamson. The motion was approved unanimously.
Jim Williamson also made a motion that Bert Williams, our
Salvation Army
liaison, be approved for an Associate Membership (no dues). The
motion was
approved unanimously.
CANTEEN: The canteen is on station at Station 12 – fully
stocked. There were no
runs during January.
COMMUNICATIONS: Dennis Chambers advised invoices for pagers were
out, and
he is updating his billing software to allow the emailing of
invoices. Mike Estridge
will assist Dennis in tracking down some of the delinquent pager
lessees. Dennis
also shared the most recent information regarding the switchover
to digital
communications by MECCA.
Station 12: Jim Williamson will research having a display board
to mount
department patches of groups coming through Station 12.
OLD BUSINESS: Jerry Traub reported in the IFD Awards
Banquet.
NEW BUSINESS: Jerry Traub was invited to attend the naming of
Engine 5/Truck 3
fire quarters at 2120 Eastern Ave., Baltimore, MD as the Roman
Kominenski
Firehouse. He was unable to go.
FDIC will be the end of April, and we are still waiting to hear
from NJ as to
our participation this year. Dates are April 24, 25, 26.
Mark Burke asked for a membership list. Dennis Chambers and
Jerry Traub
to work on the updated list.

NEXT MEETING – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2006, Station 20
C-Shift.
Meeting adjourned at 2109 on the motion of Jerry Traub. The
motion was approved
unanimously.
