Mark Burke noted he
had a recent conversation with Jerry Larsen at Salvation Army, who was
making sure we knew SA was still on board with us. Their emergency
disaster warehouse is almost completed, and Larsen noted the SA canteens
are still available for our use. Mark has a key to their
facility. Dennis Huff brought
up a fund raising activity for the Eagle Creek’s Head of the Eagle event.
After some discussion, the matter was tabled for future
consideration. Jim Williamson
continues to work on RSU 3’s interior with assistance from Peter Boele. He
has also been working on the generator mounts. Mark Burke brought up
the Feed the Firefighters Foundation, an effort to have area business
become members and provide food to firefighters on extended incidents.
Jerry Traub noted this appears to be in areas not served by Buff groups.
After some additional discussion, the matter was tabled for future
consideration. WEBSITE: (www.indianapolisfirebuffs.org) (Committee: Dennis Chambers, chair) Dennis reported via email that minutes and RSU runs were posted. COMMUNICATIONS/PAGERS: (Committee:
Dennis Chambers and Dave Palin, co-chairs) Following the setting of the 2009 rates by the
Executive Board, Dennis reported via email that 2009 notices and invoices
have been sent. Jerry outlined where the pager program was at in the
absence of Dennis. Some members making RSU runs are receiving Club
pagers. RESERVE STATION 12: (Committee: Mark Burke, chair,
Dave Palin, Jim Williamson, Dave Babcock, members) Recent work includes some
electrical repairs and continued wall work. Mark Burke noted he is getting
an electrician to look at the security light that is not operating. Once
warmer weather is here, work will resume on “the wall.” INSURANCE: (Committee: Jerry Traub, chair.
Ed McMichael, Ryan Duffin, members) Ed McMichael reported the Walker
Insurance questionnaire had been completed and returned to
them. TURNOUT: Jerry Traub reported
work would be started on the spring issue shortly. OLD BUSINESS: Mark
Burke completed a census on those wishing Radio Shack digital scanners.
There seems to be enough interest to go ahead. Jerry
Traub reported on the 17th Annual IFD Recognition Dinner, which
was attended by several members. He said IFB was recognized by Chief
Sanford. It was
noted that Bob Woods’ family had requested memorial contributions be made
to the Indianapolis Fire Buffs. The Club voted approval that any donations
received would be placed in the RSU account. Jim Williamson made a motion
that the Club make a donation to the Wishard Burn Foundation in Bob’s
honor. The motion passed. Jerry
Traub reminded members of the St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 17.
Jerry
Traub reported that John Burris is home following a short hospital stay.
Mark Burke said he sent a get well card on behalf of the Club.
Jerry
Traub reported early information for the 2009 IFBA convention to be held
in Station
26, where we were meeting, is scheduled for closure on or shortly after
2/28/09. Station 32’s fate is uncertain at this time, although the squad
is scheduled to move to Station 29. Motion
to adjourn 2125, seconded by many. Respectfully submitted, Ed
McMichael |
