Minutes for IFB meeting, April 5, 2009, IFD #29
President Jerry Traub called the meeting to order at 930. Fourteen
members were present; three members were excused.
A moment of silence was observed to honor deceased members and local
firefighters. The Pledge of Allegiance followed.
A motion to approve the minutes of the March 2009 was made by Jim
Williamson and seconded. The motion was approved.
The Treasurer's report was presented for March 2009. Moved by Dennis
Huff for approval and seconded. Motion approved.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
ARTIFACTS AND PHOTO ARCHIVES: (Committee: Rodger Birchfield, chair, Ron
Cunningham, Brett Jackson, Jack Finney, members) Reported work is still underway establishing
the photo archives and copying negatives.

RSU: (Committee: Ed McMichael, chair, Mary Morgan, Jim Williamson, Mark
Burke, Dennis Huff, members)
Ed McMichael submitted mid-March 2009 to mid-April 2009 RSU
runs:
RSU 1 is at the Shops. RSU 2 is in the process of being towed to a
shop for repair - it will not keep running. RSU 3 is operational. For
FDIC, we will be using two RSU units and two Salvation Army units. Dennis
Chambers suggested replacing the "Indianapolis Fire Buffs" banners. He said they
are beginning to look bad. Jim volunteered his services. Additional radios
were discussed and tabled.

Dennis reported
all information is up to date. A "donations" page is going to be added to
recognize those companies or individuals making donations of money or
products.
COMMUNICATIONS/PAGERS:
(Committee: Dennis Chambers and Dave Palin,
co-chairs) Dennis updated the membership on the number of
pagers out and the number of persons changing to text messaging. After a
somewhat lengthy discussion, the matter was tabled for Executive Board
review at the next breakfast.
RESERVE STATION 12:
(Committee: Mark
Burke, chair, Dave Palin, Jim Williamson, Dave Babcock,
members)
Mark Burke reported everything is status quo. He said
Sean Burke from Station 16 put in some shelves. Key security was
discussed. We are not housing anyone at Station 12 for the FDIC
conference. We have been approached by the Emerald Society who wishes to
establish a business office in the old Chief's quarters. Jim Williamson
made a motion to authorize this with the details being established by the
Executive Board. The motion passed.
INSURANCE: (Committee: Jerry Traub, chair. Ed McMichael, Ryan Duffin,
members)
No report.
TURNOUT: Jerry Traub reported work would be started on the
spring issue shortly.
OLD BUSINESS:
Scanners were distributed to those members who purchased them Thanks
to Dave Palin for programming the scanners.
Jim Williamson distributed the FDIC schedules. We are manning four
sites over three days. Thanks to members who are working at one or more
sites: Rodger Birchfield, Justin Birchfield, Dennis Huff, Mark Burke, Jim
Bishop, Ron Cunningham, Matt Woods, Jerry Traub, Mary Morgan, Ed
McMichael, Peter Boele, Brett Jackson, Ryan Duffin, Dave Palin, Dennis
Chambers, David Chambers, Jack Finney, and our chairperson, Jim
Williamson. We are manning sites at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday and
Monday. Monday and Tuesday, we will also be at HOTS sites at 38th and
Mitthoeffer, Crawfordsville and High School Roads, and the Wayne Township
Training site.
Jerry Traub reported on the happenings at the Spring Board Meeting
(April 4 in Washington DC). Moved by Jim Williamson to authorize payment
of the night’s lodging for Jerry and Ed from the Turnout account. The
motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS:
Jerry directed member's attention to the Union's website
(www.L416.com),
and said we can sign up for the Helmet publication.
Motion to adjourn 2120, seconded by many.
NEXT BREAKFAST 0900, Saturday May 2, 2009, IFD 30 A shift
NEXT MEETING: 1930, Wednesday, May 20, 2009, IFD station 30 A
shift.
