Minutes for IFB Meeting, May 17, 2006, Station 23
The meeting of the Indianapolis Fire Buffs was called to order at 1929 on May 17,
2006, by President Rodger Birchfield. Eleven members were present; three members
were excused. Guest: Brett Johnson, recent University of Indianapolis graduate,
photo contributor to indianafiretrucks.com and who enjoys photographing fire
scenes.
A moment of silence was observed to honor deceased members and firefighters,
especially William Cook (funeral was 5/20/06), John R. “Butch” Mertes, and Eddie
Rogers. The Pledge of Allegiance followed.
A motion to approve the minutes of the April 2006 meeting, as corrected, was
made by Mark Burke. The motion was approved unanimously. Corrections were
including Mary Morgan as part of the canteen response team for Regions Bank on
day 1, and Major John, SA, instead of Bert Williams on day 2.
A motion to approve the Treasurer’s report (given by Ed McMichael in Paul’s
absence) for April 2006 was made by Jerry Traub. The motion was approved
unanimously.
MAIL: Enjine Enjine, Silver Trumpet, 2nd Alarmers of Philadelphia advertising cards,
Central Ohio Antique Fire Assoc. National Muster 6/21 – 6/24, Reynoldsburg at
Ohio Fire Academy, thank you for Dr. John Suelzer memorial contribution.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
MUSEUM: no report
APPARATUS: no report
MEMBERSHIP: Chairperson Dennis Chambers noted our guest and made a motion to
suspend Club rules and make Bob Weedon a life member. The motion was approved
unanimously. Chambers also discussed the membership roster that is being
updated.
CANTEEN: The generator malfunctioned on the big unit during FDIC. It has been
repaired by a volunteer. Both the big and small units were used during FDIC.
COMMUNICATIONS: Status quo
STATION 12: Used for voting on May 2. Thanks to club members who showed up
on “clean-up” day! Leaky roof is suppose to be fixed soon. Wishard invoice still
open. Tom Miller (15’s) hired to cut grass.
OLD BUSINESS: The Tri-Regional IFBA meeting was held in Racine, WI on May 5 –
6. Jerry Traub and Jim Williamson attended as IFB representatives. Jerry reported
on the meeting.
NEW BUSINESS: Jerry Traub, Mary Morgan, and Mark Burke will attend the
Salvation Army annual volunteer luncheon (May 18, 2006) to represent IFB. Mark
was also a SA volunteer that responded to New Orleans.
The Business Entity Report is due (Indiana Corporations Division). Ed McMichael will
file necessary paperwork.
The Second Alarmers Assoc of Philadelphia is celebrating their 85th anniversary this
year. They are publishing a book and are soliciting ads. Deadline is 9/15/06. A
motion by Jerry Traub to purchase a ¼ page ad was approved. The ad will be
designed by Paul McMichael.
Discussion on member dues status. Paul McMichael was asked to have a report for
the membership at the next meeting.
Several insurance bills were received. On motions by Jerry Traub, approval was
given to pay annual auto insurance, liability and operations at Station 12, and
umbrella policies.
NEXT BREAKFAST – 9 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2006, Station 24 B-Shift
NEXT MEETING – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2006, Station 24 B-Shift.
Meeting adjourned on the motion of Dennis Chambers. The motion was approved
unanimously.
