Minutes for IFB meeting, June 16, 2010, Airport Fire Department #2

President Mark Burke called the meeting to order at 19:10 hours. Eleven members and one Guest present.

A moment of silence was observed to honor deceased members and local firefighters. The Pledge of Allegiance followed. .

A motion to approve the minutes of the May 2010 meeting was made by Jim Williamson and seconded. The motion was approved.

The Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was presented for May 2010. Motion by Dennis Huff for approval and seconded. Motion approved.

MAIL: Our designs book. Nothing else at that time.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

ARTIFACTS AND PHOTO ARCHIVES: (Committee: Chair: Rodger Birchfield, Ron Cunningham, Brett Jackson, and Jack Finney) Status quo.

APPARATUS:(Committee: Chair: Dennis Chambers, Rodger Birchfield, C.L. Hankins) The hose reel at Reserve Station 12 belongs to Naval Reserve and was donated to us and needed to be put into the museum. Dennis Chambers went over a list of the apparatus that is either on loan to IFB or is owned by IFB. Dennis Chambers said there are 4 pieces that are salvageable and we need to find a new home under a roof. Committee needs to look into finding out if we can get or have the deeds or sales agreements for the pieces we have.

MEMBERSHIP: (Committee: Chair: Dennis Huff) Carmen Garcia is here for her second meeting.  Dennis Huff asked Mark Burke about the retirees becoming members and he said he passed out applications but none have been returned yet. Peter Boule’ was talking to Jim Williamson and he would like to move his status to Active. He will need to pay the additional $15.00 to become Active. Jim Williamson made a motion to accept Peter as Active Member. Motion seconded and passed. No other information at this time.

RSU:  (Committee: Co-Chair: Dennis Huff, Co-Chair: C.L. Hankins, Gail Lock, Matt Woods) Salvation Army has given us donations to replenish supplies that we are using on the RSU’s. Salvation Army will be helping us out each month with the cost of supplies for the RSU’s each month. We have had 23 runs in the last month time

RSU-1: is in-service and running at this time (07-20-2010, it is out of service with transmission concerns)

RSU-2: Going into Wayne shops for oil change and a PM and do a look over. (07-20-2010, it is out of service due to mechanical concerns)

RSU-3: Is in IFD shops waiting on brake parts. (07-20-2010, unit is in service)

Ed McMichael has asked to wants to step down from the committee. Motion by Ed and seconded, Motion passed

COMMUNICATIONS:  (Committee: Chair: Dennis Chambers, C.L. Hankins) Pager company gave us a credit on the missing pagers we turned in to them.

RESERVE STATION 12:(Committee: Chair: Mark Burke, Jim Williamson, Dave Babcock) Looking at making show boxes in the fire bays by removing the boards from the back wall and putting in shelves and accenting them with lights. Then we would cover the front with Plexiglas. We can take some of the items from the lockers up stairs and show them off in the fire bay.

Paranormal 911 will be using the station for research on the dates listed below.

INSURANCE:  (Committee: Chair: Jerry Traub, Ed McMichael, Ryan Duffin) Status quo. Renewal for the Workers Comp policy is coming up in July 29th. Motion by Jerry Traub to pay the workers comp policy bill. Motion Seconded and passed.

TURNOUT:  (Committee: Chair: Jerry Traub, Ed McMichael, Jim Williamson) Status quo. 44 page edition will be going out soon. The 2010 National Convention in Nashville Tennessee is canceled due to the massive flooding there. You can get the issues at TurnOut

OLD BUSINESS:

Jerry Traub said a thank you for making him a Life Time Member at the last meeting. Corn ole shirts are in and ready to be sold. The members that will be working the Corn Hole Tournament can get Staff on the back of the shirts.  We have a ice cooler for Reserve Station 12 from Home City Ice.

NEW BUSINESS:

Need to get articles for the next issues of Turnout magazine from Paranormal 911. Salvation Army is holding a Serve Save class on the 26th of June. A donation letter from Ellington Volunteer Fire Dept in the amount of $200.00 for the repair and maintenance of Reserve Station 12. United Way send a check in the amount 124.62. Jim Williamson had some donation moneys from FDIC that was turned in. It was announced that Jim Williamson is now the National President of the IFBA and due to the National Meeting in Tennessee was canceled the Indianapolis Fire Buffs will be hosting the 58th Annual National Meeting on Oct 15th and 16th here in Indianapolis. It is not costing the club anything to have this meeting, but we need to get a few people to be hosts at the hospitality room at the hotel. Jim Williamson said the Region 8 and Region 4 is going to have a meeting on Aug 28th here and he will need to have help in the hospitality room at the hotel.
