Minutes for IFB meeting, President Rodger Birchfield
called the meeting to order at 1930. Eleven members were present; four
members were excused; one guest, Beth Bellamy, present for her third
meeting. A moment of silence was
observed to honor deceased members and local firefighters. The Pledge of
Allegiance followed. A motion to approve the
minutes of the September, 2008 meeting was made and seconded, as
corrected. The motion was approved. The Treasurer’s report was
presented for September, 2008. Moved and seconded for approval. Motion
approved.

Beth Bellamy attending third meeting. Membership vote was conducted. She was approved. Warren Jones raised questions
about wording on new I.D> cards. Clarification made—there will be one

Wayne) flower shop, Box+, Ed, in service 0330. October 13---Raceway and
RSU #2 is at the shops for
lettering, then back to Sta #7 for staging. Mechanical upgrade cost
estimates were prohibitive; lesser changes will be proposed. Jim, C.L. and
friends, and Peter worked on
RSU #3 during Work Day at reserve station #12 on Saturday. Another work
day scheduled 10/18 at 0900. Ed met with IFD retirees Sep
23 for training on RSU #2. Eight of fifteen who signed up were there.
Operating guideline books were distributed, Code of Conduct papers signed.
Ed will handle their dispatching “as needed” for now. RSU #1 keyholders
will get a set for this unit in case of multiple responses. TURNOUT: 2008 IFBA Racine convention
special edition should be available soon. Fall/Winter regular edition

Reg. 8 VP Ron Huff from COMMUNICATIONS: Still
in discussion with pager company about disputed charges. Continuing
to set up cell phone paging. Contact Dennis by phone or website e-mail for
instructions. Executive committee will schedule meeting with Dennis to
prepare 2009 budget and possible price adjustments to cover 2008
deficiency. RESERVE STATION 12: Work Day conducted Saturday, Oct
11. Mark, Jim, C L. and
friends, Jerry and Peter winterized, swept, did tuck pointing, paint and
electrical upgrades. SCBA tubes from RSU #3 will be turned over to the IFD
shops for their use. Groundskeeper Tom Miller will be trimming overgrowth
from next door fenceline to make more parking available. Communications
will be contacted for interoperability update for in-house
dispatch. OLD BUSINESS: Mark Burke
announced openings still available Sat Oct 18 for The Salvation Army
Rodger
Birchfield announced the dedication of new Decatur Twp station #772 at
Trotter and Ed McMichael and
Jerry Traub were appointed to Nominating Committee to create ballot for
2009 officers’ election to be held at November meeting. Interested persons should contact
committee members for consideration.
Short discussion
was held about printing date for minutes and breakfast/meeting dates
notices. It was agreed that the best estimate for breakfast and meeting
locations would be published—last-minute changes (i.e., see Nov
breakfast/lunch notice below) will be sent to as many persons as possible.
