Minutes for IFB meeting, Oct. 21, 2009, IFD #42
President Jerry Traub called the meeting to order at 1930. Fifteen members were present; five members were excused.
There was one guest: Gail Lock (Wayne Twp. Support Services) was present for his third meeting.
A moment of silence was observed to honor deceased members and local firefighters. The Pledge of Allegiance followed.
A motion to approve the minutes of the September 2009 meeting, as corrected, was made by Dennis Huff and seconded. The motion was approved.
Corrections were to add mention of the Salvation Army canteen participating in the 150th Anniversary parade, driven by Mark Burke and
Ron Cunningham.
The Treasurer’s report was presented for September 2009. Moved by Brett Jackson for approval and seconded. Motion approved.
MAIL: Walker Insurance bill, OurDesign catalog, Silver Trumpet, Engine-Engine, 3rd quarter issue,
thank you card from Dave Palin (his new address: 115 Vicki Lane, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533).
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
ARTIFACTS AND PHOTO ARCHIVES:(Committee: Rodger Birchfield, chair, Ron Cunningham, Brett Jackson, Jack Finney, members)
Rodger reported Sean (Station 16) is working on another box of picture negatives. Eventually, all the pictures will be available on a
computer disk. Time capsule report – see “old business.”
APPARATUS: (Committee: Dennis Chambers, chair, Rodger Birchfield, CL Hankins, members) No report other than to mention the
Bloomington Ford will be moved for the 11/3 elections.
MEMBERSHIP: (Committee: Club Secretary, chair) Gail Lock was present for his third meeting.
A motion to accept Mr. Lock as an Active Member was made by Ed McMichael. The motion was approved. Congratulations Gail!
Jerry reported that Matt Woods continues to convalesce at home. He is hoping to be up and about in November.

Dennis C. reported that his father, Morris Chambers, is in ill health.

Jim reported on the on-going efforts to repair RSU 2. A contracted mechanic was out and could not get the unit started.
Jim removed and shipped for testing what he thought was the computer module. It turned out it was the injector module, which tested bad.
A new unit is being shipped to us. (Update, RSU 2 now is running)
No changes on status for RSU 1 and RSU 3. We continue our efforts to secure payment from the City so we can get insurance paid.
WEBSITE: (Committee: Dennis Chambers, chair) Dennis C reported the website has been updated with the latest runs and minutes.
COMMUNICATIONS/PAGERS: (Committee: Dennis Chambers, chair) Dennis C reported Channel 13 turned in their pagers and switched
to cell phone messages. There are still 15-18 pagers out. The Club established a Dec. 1 deadline to get units back to Dennis.
Dennis to update everyone at next meeting.
RESERVE STATION 12: (Committee: Mark Burke, chair, Dave Palin, Jim Williamson, Dave Babcock, members) Jim, CL, Dennis H,
Brett, Ron, and Peter went over to Reserve Station 12 after the last breakfast and painted the repaired wall, rehung the sink on the inside
of the bathroom, and cleaned. Medic Sean Barrett and Mark cleaned the basement. The old water heater and furnace were removed to the
outside of the building, and further removed by a junk collector! The floors and walls have been pressure washed, and new lighting hung.
And the sump pump works although no one was brave enough to clean out the well. Ken Oskins (43’s) moved the exterior lights up and replaced
the destroyed fixtures. Thanks Ken, Sean, and Club members!
The Special Election on 11-3 was discussed. Mark will open and close the station. Between Dennis C and Jerry,
the Bloomington Ford engine will be relocated for the day.
INSURANCE: (Committee: Jerry Traub, chair. Ed McMichael, Ryan Duffin, members) Status quo.
Waiting for money to pay current installment due.
TURNOUT: Staff is working on the Convention issue.
OLD BUSINESS:
Jerry reported the 2009 Raffle is underway. The drawing will be Nov. 17 at the Local 416 Union meeting.
The Time Capsule Committee recommended we donate a Fire Buffs’ helmet shield, a badge, and a current roster for inclusion in the
150th Anniversary Time Capsule.
There is a 150th Anniversary Raffle – winner gets tickets to Colts game, limo ride to and from the game, and $100 gift certificate to
Shula’s. Tickets are $10 – see Rodger if interested.
There is a 150th Anniversary Yearbook being published. Cost is $40 for standard binding, $50 for deluxe binding.

NEW BUSINESS:
From as email received from Fred Olsson: he wanted to see if we could broadcast IFD frequencies over the internet.
The matter was tabled for study.
Mark Burke contacted the Salvation Army regarding Bell Ringing. Several members volunteered, and Mark will work out dates, shifts,
and the location.
Jim secured several new IFB banners and hung two in the station.
Sean Barrett made another donation to the Station 12 fund in his on-going paranormal research.
A Nominating Committee for the 2010 Officers was formed, consisting of Mark Burke, CL Hankins, and Ron Cunningham.
They will nominate a slate of officers for President, Vice President, and Secretary, with Paul McMichael continuing to serve as Treasurer
(2010 will be the second year of his two-year term).
